DWNTWN is a dreamy synth-pop trio with catchy melodies and glistening electronic production that includes Jamie Leffler (lead vocals), Robert Cepeda (guitar, backup vocals, keyboard), Chris Sanchez (keyboards, bass) and Dan Vanchieri (drums)
“We’re kind of a folk band, but we just happen to make electronic music. We listen to a lot of Carter Family, and Johnny Cash, but we also love bands like Crystal Castles.”
With catchy melodies and twinkling production stylings, DWNTWN came to be in the summer of 2010 when Jamie Leffler and Robert Cepeda both went through bummer breakups and spent most weekends driving from Los Angeles to San Francisco trying to get away. That eventually led to the two of them writing on-the-go folk song demos that they’d record to their iPhone.
Then in early 2011 this dream team duo, Robert and Jamie transformed these early demos to songs that span genres from electro to new wave, to indie and pop. The band has been compared to everything from Postal Service to Ellie Goulding and M83.
Their New Album is due 4/29 on Jullian Records.
