Jullian Records very own James Maddock will be on hand July 21st at NYC Summer Stage to honor Pete Seeger.
A concert honoring the late folk singer and Dutchess Junction resident Pete Seeger will be held at SummerStage in New York City’s Central Park July 21.
“New Songs of Justice: An Evening Honoring Pete Seeger,” will feature performances by acoustic Anti-Flag, Toni Blackman, Rebel Diaz, part-time Woodstock resident Steve Earle, DJ Kool Herc, Nyraine, James Maddock, Woodstock resident Elizabeth Mitchell, Dan Zanes, Ulster County residents Mike Merenda and Ruthy Ungar, who perform as Mike and Ruthy, Sarah Lee Guthrie and Johnny Irion, the Chapin Sisters, Krishna Guthrie and his band, Amanda Palmer and Michael Glabicki of Rusted Root.
Sara Lee Guthrie and Krisha Guthrie are the children of Arlo Guthrie, whose father was Woody Guthrie. Seeger was a protege of Woody Guthrie,
This event will cap a weekend of events honoring Seeger and his late wife, Toshi, the details of which have not been released. The SummerStage event, set for Rumsey Playfield in Central Park, is being co-produced by Seeger’s grandson, Kitama Cahill-Jackson, and Gina Belafonte, daughter of musician Harry Belafonte. Showtime is 6 p.m. Admission is free.
