PORTLAND, OR - The Get Ahead are pleased to announce the premiere of "Mind Is A Mountain" - the title track from their forthcoming EP - on OPB Music today.
The track was written "about the experience of rushing to my youngest brother Josiah's bedside after receiving word he had suffered a major stroke," says singer/guitarist Nathan Earle. "This title track and the EP itself are dedicated to Josiah and his ongoing recovery. We have always felt that there is a broader and more universal message present in the song as well."
The title track sets the tone for Mind Is A Mountain (Jullian Records), a watershed artistic entry born from tragedy, profound relationship shifts, frustrating band line-up reshuffles, and a highly transformative experience working with Grammy Award-winning producer, Son Little (The Roots, RJD2, and Mavis Staples).
“These songs are snapshots of an American life culled from experience with what we feel are universal messages,” says The Get Ahead co-leader, singer-songwriter, guitarist Nathan Earle.
Nathan along with co-leader and vocalist Juliet Howard are the creative core of The Get Ahead. For the EP, the duo is joined by Sean Farrell, bass, Angie Johnson sax, violin, and backing vocals, and Danny Johnson drums.
Mind Is A Mountain is a smoldering cauldron of impassioned golden oldie yearning, brawny delta blues, soaring 1960s girl group anthemics, and modern vintage Motown.
Mind Is A Mountain will be available October 13, 2017 on Jullian Records.
